Usage Tips & Examples
- Time between wraps around midnight — start 22:00 to end 06:00 = 8 hours
- Adding time also wraps around 24 hours
- Great for shift work, travel times, and scheduling
Enter a start time and an end time in HH:MM or HH:MM:SS format, and the calculator returns the elapsed duration in hours, minutes and seconds, plus a 'total seconds' figure for arithmetic. Or use the Add/Subtract mode to take a base time and shift it by a duration — handy for working out when a 90-minute meeting will end or when a deferred build started.
Cross-midnight ranges are handled by treating the end time as next-day if it's earlier than the start. The calculator works in 24-hour notation; if you prefer 12-hour AM/PM input you'll need to convert mentally. There's no time-zone awareness — both times are assumed to be in the same zone.
The calculator assumes the range crosses midnight — end time is treated as next-day. So 23:00 → 02:00 returns 3 hours, not negative 21.
No — both times are assumed to be in the same zone. For DST-aware calculations between zones, use the Timezone Converter.
Currently only 24-hour input is supported. Convert 1:30 PM to 13:30 before entering.
Yes — input both times with HH:MM:SS and the result is exact to the second. HH:MM input rounds to the nearest minute.
